COVID Pandemic-End of June

My regular blog posts ended after my post including the Madeline Island camping trip.  I was one of the first staff called out of furlough and returned to my regular work schedule after our camping trip.  This change ended our ability to do any special activities or extended trips away without me taking paid time off.  Because of this, life went back to "normal" mode even though the effects of COVID-19 on our lives obviously is persisting.  Resuming work has been exhausting and challenging mentally, and therefore I just didn't have any space left in my brain to keep up with the blog.  Luckily Isaac is great about videos.

I'm going to transition to capturing the highlights from larger chunks of time, and luckily have a little time away from the kids to attempt this :).

So....here we go!

End of June:
This was our first time gathering fully with John and Molly's family and it timed out perfectly to celebrate Uncle John's 50th birthday.  Isaac was thrilled to have some adult interaction and the kids loved having some extra attention.  The weather couldn't be beat.

Lucy and Charlie love making patterns with the Connect 4 game (not the original purpose of the game, but a good idea nonetheless.  Charlie is still sporting some marker from the activities on the drive up.

Charlie is clearly thrilled that cousin Abbey has arrived to the cabin!  Let the fun begin.
Lucy and Charlie often find some way to creatively play independently.  This set up involved rocks, worms and the "wind spirit" (from Elsa).

Lucy is very helpful and sweet to her brother....sometimes.

This is Kerry's least favorite water toy by far...but Charlie and Lucy love the squirters!

A fun night time ride in the new boat!!

Enjoying the new boat by day.

Daddy is trying out wake surfing.

Lucy is coming a long way in her swimming abilities thanks to some fun time spent in Mema's pool.

Working towards some independent jumping, but at this point she prefers to have Dad near by.

Having fun in the front of the boat!
Lucy has an absolute blast tubing lately and she gets every possible person to join her on the tube.

Mom always gets some driving help.  Charlie is notorious for circles.

Lucy is starting to understand directional changes better.

We enjoyed an evening of campfire in the new birthday fire pit as well as a bags tournament.

Getting ready for a birthday celebration.  Something doesn't seem right here.  Silly Isaac and Abbey.

Happy Birthday Uncle John!  The big 5-0!

We don't get a sibling picture too often!

While enjoying the campfire later that night, we could see Charlie just watching quietly from the window up above.  This was Charlie's reaction when he got caught!
Before leaving the cabin we were shocked that Lucy decided to try out skiing!  She was nervous but put forth a great effort!

She did get up for a moment but then we think she got scared and fell down.  She's hoping to try again when she's older :)

Unfortunately our weekend ended abruptly when Charlie spiked a fever.  We packed up and headed out.  He responded well to tylenol but he just wasn't himself.  The nurse advisor recommended a COVID test.  Kerry got a sore throat a day later and then also had to get tested.  Luckily we both tested negative and were soon feeling just fine.  Charlie would rather not get his nose tickled again though!
