This was Lucy's first time on here with her mountain bike. It's still a little big for her but she's making it work.
Last week the kids were at John and Molly's house while we were in the Tetons. Today they Played house a bunch.
The first part of July was brutally hot-which made Kerry especially crabby that we weren't up north for one of the first times over the 4th of July holiday. High lights of the first two weeks included a day trip to Wisconsin Rapids for some swim time in the Ironside's pool. Isaac was hard at work making 2 new raised beds out of some black locust wood he purchased across the state. The kids enjoyed playing in the dirt and joining in on the project (of course he was thrilled that it was 100 degrees out while performing manual labor). Our raspberry crop this year was epic and now we have gallons frozen as well as we couldn't keep up with the bounty. Our best pandemic purchase was likely our inflatable pool. Kerry bought the pool back in April thinking it might be handy. The pools were soon sold out and we heard a story of someone driving across the state and paying several hundred dollars to get their kids a similar pool!
My regular blog posts ended after my post including the Madeline Island camping trip. I was one of the first staff called out of furlough and returned to my regular work schedule after our camping trip. This change ended our ability to do any special activities or extended trips away without me taking paid time off. Because of this, life went back to "normal" mode even though the effects of COVID-19 on our lives obviously is persisting. Resuming work has been exhausting and challenging mentally, and therefore I just didn't have any space left in my brain to keep up with the blog. Luckily Isaac is great about videos.
I'm going to transition to capturing the highlights from larger chunks of time, and luckily have a little time away from the kids to attempt this :).
So....here we go!
End of June:
This was our first time gathering fully with John and Molly's family and it timed out perfectly to celebrate Uncle John's 50th birthday. Isaac was thrilled to have some adult interaction and the kids loved having some extra attention. The weather couldn't be beat.
