Covid 19 Pandemic Week 7

Saturday April 25th:
Today kicked off a beautiful spring weekend.  We decided to revisit Wildcat Mountain State Park. We did the same hike as last time, but this time we did the loop in reverse.  There were fewer people at the park this time around.  We actually expected more people to be there since most other state parks are closed now.  After quiet time, we got out for another walk around the neighborhood with several stops to drop off some treats for friends on their porches.  Charlie's new favorite thing is to examine every ant hill he comes across...which unfortunately can mean stopping at almost every sidewalk crack.

More of "her majesty" on this car ride.

Amish Country.

Lucy has come up with a clever idea for her pretzels.

She looks ready for oktoberfest!

Meanwhile Charlie could spend all day at a creek.

Charlie made it about a mile today before being ready for his hiking pack or "car" as he calls it.

Another good family selfie for the books.
One of many snack stops.  :)

Charlie stopping to check on his "pet" ants.

Sunday April 26th:
Today was one of the best spring days that Isaac and I can recall since being in La Crosse.  We decided to return to another new favorite place: Esofea County Park. The kids had a huge field to play in and we set up camp chairs and made noodles for lunch.  We spent some time by the bigger stream, but decided to end the afternoon with some wading in one of the smaller creeks. I could have walked upstream for hours as every bend was prettier.  We saw some small trout along the way and enjoyed watching the water bugs skate along the surface.

Lucy's request for funny faces.

This is one of many pictures in the stream.  I'll reserve a whole post to itself for the rest of the photos.

Monday April 27th:
Today was more of a "business as usual" kind of day.  Mom returned to work in the clinic and Dad was teaching so the kids have returned to daycare at Paula's.  Charlie was raring to go, but Lucy seems to have adjusted to leisurely mornings at home with too much Disney +.
Kerry was able to successfully complete her unemployment claim for the previous week; more uncharted territory being navigated.

Tuesday, April 28th:
Kerry's co-worker Rae makes beautiful cloth facemasks.  Below is today's purchase.  She is also custom making a tiny one for Charlie.  Today marks the first day that cloth facemasks are required for all staff when they are not providing patient care.

Wednesday May 1st:
The weather was icky, Mom had to work, and the kids were at Paula's.  I have no pictures from this day, therefore no clue what we even did.  Probably just watched a lot of Disney?!

Thursday April 30th:
Here we go again; Kerry's 11 day stretch of "not working" begins!!  We had several days of YouTube videos to catch up on for Mrs. Olsen's 4K class.  She has an art project with every video and the biggest hit in today's batch was making a parking garage out of a box.  This entertained the kids for close to an hour (especially Charlie). We have started a sticker chart for when Charlie makes it through the night without coming up to our bedroom to wake us up.  He was a bit confused on the concept as he demanded his icecream reward the following morning of his first success.  Tonight we were able to cash in on his reward by biking downtown to The Pearl (our favorite icecream shoppe).  We got a 1/2 gallon tub of all the favorite flavors (blue moon, mint chocolate chip and cookie dough) and went to Riverside Park to eat some of our treat.  We decided to bike home through the marsh and that's when Lucy hit her limit (5 miles for her little legs was quite the accomplishment).  She came to many dead stops the last mile to let us know what she thought, and the trip ended with Isaac carrying her bike over his shoulder while she rode in the burley.

We all screen for ICECREAM!!!

Lucy is getting a pep-talk from Mom in the form of "turn your bike around now; home is the other way"

A fun ride to The Pearl.  Lucy loved the concept of a bike lane and the lack of traffic was a perfect first go of it.

Friday May 1st:
The kids went to Paula's today for a short day so Mom and Dad could get some tasks done.  Lucy was thrilled to try out biking home from Paula's at the end of the day.  It took us over an hour but she had a blast!  Mom made a run out of it and Dad pulled Charlie in the burly.
In the evening, the Pings texted clues about a book scavenger hunt and the kids had fun hunting for some new books to read that night!
