Day 8 - Arrive Home

We drove through thunderstorms and some heavy rain near Chicago around 3 AM.  We meet John and Molly in Portage at 6:45 AM.  We talked for a bit and let Lucy run around.  A quick hour later, we are back on the road.  We arrive home around 9:15 AM.

When we got home, Isaac went to the basement for a 2 hour nap.  Charlie goes down for a nap around 9 AM (his usually nap time) but did not wake up until 4 PM!  The guy really missed his crib!

Kerry took an epic nap on the couch during the late morning.  Lucy did a bunch of puzzles instead of napping.

We looked at trip pictures and then chipped away at unpacking and had most of it done by the early afternoon.  This vacationing stuff isn't easy!!!

Charlie's One Year Update

The stats from the 12 month well child check:
Length: 29.7" (38%)
Weight: 21.78 lbs (55%)
Head circumference: 18.5" (71%)

Vocabulary:
Daddy
Mommy
Doggie
Duck
Ball

Bye
Hi

Favorite foods: The big eating trend has continued.  Charlie will eat any kind of berry until it's gone.  He is a fan of garlic buttered shrimp as well.

Milestones:  Leading into Charlie's one year check up, he wasn't doing any of the gross motor milestones (but he hit 100% of all other milestones).  So that earned him the title of "gross motor delay".  The day following the appointment he started pulling up to stand, cruising and using a push toy...go figure!  He was holding out on us.

Sleep: Charlie still consistently takes 2 naps. The morning nap is usually 1.5 hours and the afternoon is closer to 2 hours.  He goes to bed at 6:30 and gets up at 6-6:30.

Ways to describe Charlie: Joyful, laid back, giggly.  He is usually perfectly fine interacting and being held by strangers.  He has a special interest in socks.  When laundry is in the basket, he finds the socks and carries them around in his hands and mouth.  He's currently missing at least 3-4 complete pairs of his socks as I'm sure they're stashed in strange places in the house.

Look who is ONE-pictures

Wild hair, just like Daddy!

Starting to become a real fan of dirt and rocks.  We are still working on keeping it out of his mouth.

Gotta love those eye lashes and chubby cheeks!!
